The primary purpose of the Volunteer Skills Network is to gather information from an individual who would be willing to be called upon by regional and national organizations to volunteer his or her skills and time for short- or long-term endeavors at American Baptist churches, mission settings, and/or denominational events.
The Volunteer Skills Network is a program of National Ministries through Volunteers In Mission (VIM).
A broad-based network will enable the Volunteer Skills Network to contact and invite individuals who have completed the enrollment form and entered the database system, to accept volunteer assignment(s) which match the skill(s) of that person. Length of assignments could vary from a couple of hours, a day, a week, or longer, depending on the need and/or setting.
Sample volunteer requests might be:
Intergenerational storytelling
Repairing a roof destroyed by a hurricane
Computer work or word processing
Speaking at denominational or church event
Singing or playing an instrument at an event
Replacing electrical wiring
Leading a seminar
